 In recent years, there is a wild increase in usage of Big Data for various applications. Also this has induced academicians, researchers, government agencies and other practitioners to change their focus towards Big Data. Though there are more applications based on Big Data, the quality assurance and management has become critical since the application domain is too vast which includes business, healthcare, transportation, environment monitor and assessment, smart city development etc. Recent surveys say that when erroneous data is used, the cost for maintaining the same is around 600 billion dollars. Thus there is huge urge to come out with quality standards and assurance for using Big Data. This special issue will focus on the quality models, automation methods, approaches, service platforms, challenges for big data and application service systems.
